Hello, All!
Hайдено на сайте ayashi.narod.ru (кажется :)
======================================================================
Ayashi no Ceres - это история, нарисованная Yuu Watase,

Hello, All!

Watase Yuu, famed author of the smash hit Fushigi Yuugi, strikes
gold once more with Ayashi no Ceres -- a wonderfully crafted story of
love, tragedy and friendship. However, Ayashi takes a much darker
route with its story, making it an even more exc iting read then its
presuccesor was at times. Of course there are many similarities
between Ayashi and Fushigi... best friends becoming unwilling enemies,
tragic love and enough bishonen to keep any fangirl happy for hours.
However, Ayashi manages to hold its own, and after awhile you forget
about F ushigi Yuugi altogether and enjoy the series for what it is --
a beautiful love story with great characters and an intriguing plot.
The artwork is wonderful and only gets better throughout the
story as Watase-san develops her style more. Some of the illustrations
from late in the series are absolutely breathtaking.
In the end, while the manga is aimed at girls of junior high to
high school age, it is important to remember that japanese culture
often differs drastically from american culture in what they consider
suitable for children. Things like violence, death, p rofanity, and
sex come up often in this series. So for those turned off by such
things... this may not be the manga for you. However, if you love
sci-fi, romance and fantastic artwork -- this is exactly what you've
been waiting for!

What can you say about Ayashi no Ceres? Yuu Watase's last effort,
Fushigi Yuugi, was such a massive success that Ayashi no Ceres will
appeal to several hundred people regardless of it's quality. Luckily,
Watase is something of a genius in her field a nd you're typically
guaranteed quality work from her - Ayashi no Ceres is probably the
best thing she's released in a long while, miles beyond anything
Fushigi Yuugi had to offer, and one of the more interesting manga
titles available today. The artwork, as usual with Watase's work, is
gorgeous. The detail level here is considerably higher than in most of
her other work. The character designs are a bit too similar for my
tastes, with each character essentially looking just like the last.
Tha t's to be expected, however, until Watase's art style matures a
bit into something that isn't so homogenous. The story, this time, is
a bit more caustic and extreme than usual. There's a lot of sex in
this manga. A lot. Every 6th page or so seems to invo lve two or more
of the characters sleeping together. Emotionally, it's a bit more of a
payoff than Fushigi Yuugi had to offer, but it gets a bit gratuitous
at times and I wonder if Watase put so much sex in it simply to sell
the manga. Other than that, t he plot develops nicely and the
characters are extremely well-written, each with individual
personalities that don't seem directly taken from other manga titles
or plucked from the Anime Personality Stereotype box. In all, Ayashi
no Ceres is definitely w orth a read, and fans of Yuu Watase's other
work will no doubt love every second of it.
Юрий.

Hello, All!
Reviewer #1: Ralph Jenkins
Episodes reviewed: 1-4, Subtitled Grade: 92% (A-)
Based on watching the first four episodes of Studio Pierrot's
26-episode anime adaptation of Watase Yuu's hit shoujo manga Ayashi no
Ceres, it is clear that Watase's storytelling capabilities --as well
as Pierrot's aptitude for adapting her lush sty le to animation --
have improved in the years since Fushigi Yuugi. The heroine, Aya (the
title Ayashi no Ceres is a pun, by the way, making the title
impossible to really translate), is a more three-dimensional character
by the end of AnC's first episode than FY's Miaka was at the
conclusion of that series. The supporti ng characters are also
well-developed and appealing, especially the telekinetic Aogiri and
her brother-in-law, the Iron Chef-wannabe Yuuhi. The Tooya character
remains a cipher even to himself at the end of the fourth episode, so
it remains to be seen wh ether he's simply a Tamahome clone or
something more.
The art style in this series is almost identical to that of the
FY OVA series, with more angular features and sharper noses for the
characters than in the FY TV series. It looks as though the animators
simply settled into a style they're comfortable usin g. Unlike FY, the
characters here rarely appear off-model.
As this series is half the length of FY, the plot moves much
faster. There's hardly time for filler, and the plot is leaner for it.
This show will demand the full attention of the viewer until the end
of each episode, which usually means a cliffhanger.
One other thing: AnC is considerably more adult than FY. While
not adults-only, it does contain quite a bit of graphic violence and
even some nudity in the opening (but this is not Brain Powered, which
also aired on the satellite channel WOWOW).
Compared to Fushigi Yuugi, Ayashi no Ceres is a more mature and
more finely realized work. It does, however, lack the "epic" feel of
FY.

The first thing that will undoubtedly draw people to Ayashi no
Ceres is that's its from the same folks who brought us Fushigi Yuugi.
However, while the character design and music is just as wonderful as
its presuccesor (what would a Watase Yuu tale b e without a bunch of
yummy bishounen?), be warned that this is a MUCH darker tale. In fact,
seeing what Aya (our heroine) is subjected to in just the first 4
episodes makes the antics of Miaka and Yui seem incredibly petty in
comparison. As of the first 4 episodes, Ayashi seems quite promising.
The characters are very likable and easy to sympathize with and the
story is gripping and moving along quite fast (granted this cant be
helped much since they're trying to get 14 manga volumes int o just 26
episodes)
In the end, Ayashi no Ceres is looking to be the anime to get in
the year 2000. Although its a romance story, its intense drama and
scifi-esqe undertones are sure to make it appeal to men and women
alike.
